Released in 1977, Decade is a career-spanning retrospective compiled by Neil Young that covers his first ten years in the music industry (1966–1976). Originally a triple-LP set and now a double CD, it remains a definitive collection because Young personally curated the tracklist and provided hand-written liner notes for each song.
The compilation traces his musical evolution from his early days with Buffalo Springfield, his legendary collaborations with Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and his extensive solo work with Crazy Horse and the Stray Gators. Notably, it included five previously unreleased tracks at the time of its release, such as "Down to the Wire" and "Campaigner."
Disc One includes tracks such as "Down to the Wire," "Burned," and "Mr. Soul" by Buffalo Springfield, "Sugar Mountain," "The Loner," "Cinnamon Girl" with Crazy Horse, and "Helpless" by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.
Disc Two features songs including "Ohio" by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, "Old Man," "Heart of Gold," "Like a Hurricane" with Crazy Horse, and "Long May You Run" by The Stills-Young Band.
